The purpose of this paper is to determine similarities and differences between Goryeogayo (高麗歌謠) Gasiri and Sijo (時調) Gasiri included in jeungbogogeumbo (增補古琴譜) and to find meanings which they have in the history of Korean classical poetry by comparing the two songs. Goryeogayo Gasiri and Sijo Gasiri are similar in both words and music. This suggests that the author of Sijo Gasiri refered to Goryeogayo Gasiri in not only writing the words but also composing the music. Until now several cases have been presented that support the theory which argues Sijo had been originated from Goryeogayo. But It can be argued that Goryeogayo Gasiri also had a great effect on the words and music of Sijo according to the result of this study.
In this paper I also studied on the adaptation that the author of Sijo Gasiri carried out. He took the tack changing adequately the phrases in Goryeogayo Gasiri, “shyeolon nim (셜온 님)” and “seonhamyeon (선하면)” which seem to have been hard to interpret, while borrowing most part of the words of Goryeogayo Gasiri. The adaptation which was carried out in Sijo Gasiri has a significant meaning because it shows an awareness and action of the people in their time toward the phrases hard to interpret.
