The purpose of this paper is to investigate the discussion of travel and the formation of travel essay in the enlightenment of the modern age. In this time, many intellects went abroad to study or leaved on a trip overseas because that they needed to expand their knowledge and experience.
Travel essay was called the YUGI(遊記: one of the documentary literature focus on the travels) in the premodern times. But the enlightenment of the modern age, many discussions noticed to get information relating in the flowering of civilization.
Some tourist parties appeared the front and back in 1905. Japan"s industrial development or scenic spots and places of historic interests was main topic.
The phenomena of travels had various aspects in the enlightenment of the modern age. I think that the travel essay literature was formed by the modern composition textbooks.
