The purpose of this study is to analyze the health status and relationship among the principal variables related to health among workers with disabilities. The data used for analyses are the 2008 panel survey of employment for the disabled focusing on 1,212 wage employees with disabilities. The methodologies used in this study are descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling.
The analyses showed that female workers compared to male ones, the younger workers versus the older, and the physically disabled in greater numbers than the internally and mentally disabled are in better health. Furthermore, as a result of path model analysis, health behavior and health status have an indirect effect on the relationship between socioeconomic status and job satisfaction among disabled workers. Health behavior also has a indirect effect between socioeconomic status and health status among disabled workers. It is important to focus on these factors as a mediated effect in order to enhance health promotion for workers with disabilities.
