Oh, Hee Jeong. 2011. The relationship among attitudes toward questions, the use of strategies, and achievement. Korean Journal of English Language and Linguistics, 11-3, 521-545. This study investigates the relationship among Korean students' attitudes toward TOEIC listening questions, the use of listening strategies, and their listening achievement. One hundred forty seven college students participated in the study. The data for this study were collected from a questionnaire and two sets of TOEIC test scores. An analysis of the results revealed several important points. Students' subjective attitudes like self-confidence on parts of the TOEIC test were not based on their pre-listening scores. They don't have any relationship between the use of the listening strategies and their listening scores. However, students' attitudes towards the level of difficulty on part 4 of the TOEIC test were related to their listening ability. The use of the part 4 listening strategy in the TOEIC test could increase their listening achievement. The findings of this study call for more research on the effectiveness of listening strategy training.
