The problem raised in this thesis is that the translation in Korean is much restricted by the structure of the original text and its literal meaning. This is the main cause of the translationsese. The reason for the decline of readability lies in insufficient consideration for the differences between both languages in the process of translation. More specifically, translators of classical texts put an emphasis on literal translation and do not consider modifications based on modern usage as desirable. Of course, if literal translation is for special learners of classical translations, it may be an appropriate method, but if it is for illuminating common people to understand the wisdom and experience of forefathers, it is not recommendable. Thus the translation of classical texts hereafter should be made after setting up a clear purpose and target readers.
