This paper's aims are to diagnose critically the education policies of DU and to suggest some alternatives for basic directions in education.
It is generally pointed out that the rise of neoliberalism has forced the capitalistic logic upon the production of knowledge. Therefor universities of Korea have been changed into knowledge-factories and knowledge markets. More specifically, the humanities have shown peculiar shortcomings both in the way they have been taught and the way they have been studied.
It is urgently needed that we have to establish the independent knowledge production system for the development of education and research. It is also necessary to improve our education environment and to change our mind. The conclusion of this essay thus is that only when the humanities can compete with practical disciplines for undergraduate education can they begin to prepare the near-future crisis.
