Report Errors
When one country contracts the FTAs with many countries at the same time, one of the negative aspects that multiple FTAs can result in is "spaghetti bowl effect". Generally, spaghetti bowl effect means that overlapping FTAs actually harms the trade by increasing transaction costs. Because multiple FTAs need to invest more labor force and time for verifying variable tariffs, complicated rules of origin, and assorted bureaucratic requirements and different laws among many countries.
The spaghetti bowl effect has not yet defined in academic researches. There are not many previous researches that analyze the spaghetti bowl effect. Especially, quantitative researches about spaghetti bowl effect are very insufficient.
Under the insufficient condition of clear studies for spaghetti bowl effect , this study examines the current condition, trend and special cases of spaghetti bowl effect and investigates the ways to mitigate the spaghetti bowl effect.
