Koguryo tomb paintings showed Koguryo's lifestyle substantially. The 12 paintings of Koguryo tomb paintings are about the food or utensils they used, habits and informations related on kitchen spaces. According to these paintings, Koguryo's dietary customs of the noble families placed their kitchen and its attached buildings space on the right. The affiliated buildings are larder, wells, Treadmills, 2nd floor warehouse and they form a complex. Acknowledging the fact that 2nd floor warehouse and larders are independent from the kitchen, Koguryo's nobles were eaten in abundance.
Kitchen with a fireplace and chimney buttumak(부뚜막), the stigma of chapter wiring was built for trimming food materials. Buttumak structure of the fireplace and chimney is located diagonally to each other. These phenomena are commonly appeared on unearthed in the Koguryo buttumak. This implies buttumak structure found in Ohnyeo mountain castle and Dongdaeja heritage ruins are associated with ‘ㄱ’ shaped Goodale(구들). According to 『舊唐書』, ‘ㄱ’ shaped Goodale was maily used by the poor people as a heating system. In winter, poor Koguryo people used goodale for heating and built a buttumak above it for cooking. However, as seen in paintings Mu YongChong(무용총), heating and cooking systems are independent in the residence of the noble families.
When you view Gakjeochong and MuYongChong's dining scene, the nobles who lived in areas of Guknaeseong Koguryo ate on high chairs. But in Pyongyang or Anak, nobles ate on low chairs. With this clue we can know there were different food customs.
Pyongyang and Anak's short leged chair is similar to the chair made in the Wijin period. And Guknaeseong's high leged chair is similar to the chair excavated at Niya heritage. Niya heritage is at Xinjiang Autonomous Region to the Western Transportation's the relics. These facts shows us Koguryo accepted different cultures from many countries.
