The study aims at investigating fluency measures which discriminate different L2 writing proficiency levels, and the relationship between product-based and process-oriented fluency measures to see which product-based measures can provide information about fluency in the writing process. Process-oriented writing fluency of L2 Korean EFL college students was measured using think-aloud protocols and the information from an analysis of online writing provided by a keystroke logging program including pause analysis. Three productbased (e.g., total number of words written) and six process-oriented (e.g., burst length) measures were noted as statistically discriminant fluency measures. Total number of words written out of the three product- based measures was found as a measure which can shed light on writing fluency in process. Error-free T-unit length also illustrated a significant correlation with process-oriented measures, though such a relationship was more noticeable in lower-level writers, which suggests different developmental rates of fluency and accuracy.
