This paper is an object in 1940's to expose the aspect of the nationalism discussion which it pursues through the narration strategy of the history novel at the time. In this paper, we would like to an aspect and meaning of the nationalism discussion will be looked into against ‘King Sejo’〈세조대왕〉 which the change over of the recognition is found as the meaning of a conversion when being the series of the history novel of in 1920’s of it in 1940’s.
The Japanese imperialism requested that the Japanese of the nation Chosun became for the war mobilization in 1940’s. However, it was afraid of that it becomes Japanese in fact. In conclusion, “Naesunilche”(to be one between Japan And Chosun) was the symbol for the war mobilization. Lee Guang-su was accepted “Huanminhwa”(to be national people in japan) and extended his the nationalism discussion and changed. And Lee Guang-su emphasizing the blood with the unitary nation is asserted that the Japanese and blood are identical. The history narration is changed the use of the substitution of the memory and the new nationalism discussion tries to be formed.
‘King Sejo’〈세조대왕〉 is the text showing the change of the nation discussion of Lee Guang-su’s in 1940’s. It contrasts with a dichotomy and an individual is described for the historical probability. As to this, a marginalization is the history of the public a thing as the narration strategy of the history narrative. ‘King Sejo’〈세조대왕〉 reconstructs the memory and it forms the history narrative freshly. The rapport with the Japan nation tried to be drawn in the critical eyes of the descriptor about the Confucian legitimacy.
Lee Guang-su tried to form “Huanminhwa” to the nationalism discussion by the narration strategy of the history narrative and reconfiguration of the memory. However, this is unable to be completely included in the imperialism discussion and shows a “Huanminhwa” discussion and difference. In 1940’s, his history novel was the expression of the desire which tries to draw the Japanized nation. However, the nationalism discussion where it is found in the history narrative remained as the refracted display.
