The focuses on recent trends in international trade associated with environment, especially, the background and roles of the emergence of the Committee on Trade and Environment, and 10 agendas discussed in this committee. It can be summarized the various discussions done in activities of UN, OECD, ISO and WTO during the last decade, it can be concluded that the association of trade and environment will be strengthened in the future.
Especially the discussions at WTO/CTE will further specify and point out the positions of participating countries on major issues, which became a starting point to level up the understanding on trade & environmental issues.
Up until now, the characteristics of trade regulations based in the international environment regulations, minimal limit in trade, and its effect have been specified, and major principles and agreements of WTO have been accepted important environment related treatments, which strengthened the basis to make it easy to negotiate each issue. If New Round at WTO is launched, environment related trade issues will emerge as major agendas and further discussions will be followed, which investigates us to prepare to respond to each agenda.
Also, It is necessary to bring up the clusters and to attract the pro-environmental industry for the long run.
