This paper investigates the international trade effects among U.S., Japan, China, and Korea using the recent international trade matrix. U.S., Japan, and China are the major trade partners of Korea. U.S. contributes and influences the most greatly the trade of Japan, China, and Korea directly and indirectly. Especially U.S. influences the other countries considerably greatly than Japan in this region.
As a result of the trade influence test and the trade sensitivity test, the coefficient of trade influence of U.S. is the largest and the coefficients of trade sensitivity of China and Korea are appreciably large. Thus while U.S. has the independent international trade structure, China and Korea have dependent international trade structure on U.S. and Japan. Japan appears to be the mixed neutral international trade structure. Finally, China's and Korea's international trade multipliers higher than those of U.S. and Japan.
Thus U.S. Japan, China, and Korea need to enhance the economic and trade relationship each other through the economic integration such as FTA (free trade area) in order to induce the more mutual trade volume in this area.
