As a researcher digging into oriental classical literature, now is the time to seriously find out a new teaching method of great works of classical literature for the public. For the purpose of this, this paper shows the interrelationships and other connections between the old novel "Jeonwoochi story" and the movie "Jeonwoochi". In this paper, I consider several issues as follows: which popular fantasy the movie "Jeonwoochi" adapted from the novel "Jeonwoochi" has, why the viewers are so exited at the movie "Jeonwoochi", what the popular sense of beauty in the movie is, what is the difference between paper and screen as a medium of classic art, how slices of modern life is expressed in the movie, and how the charaters in the classic novel are transformed to stand atop in modern popular culture.
The wild enthusiasm of the public over the movie "Jeonwoochi" can be explained in four aspects as follows: the types of characters above standard, descriptive structures beyond time and space, fantastic narratives, and aesthetics of imperfection. Jeonwoochi's magic brings humor and catharsis to the viewers not by dreaming socio-political revolution but by scolding moral and ethical faults of leaders. The hero speaks for the weak, lets the suppressed people's view of the world known, and let the viewers enjoy fully the freedom from the invisible regulations of many systems. His magic is met with enthusiastic response from modern people not because it aims for breaking the established order and building new society but because it has the social meaning of presenting the mind of the public, curing the joy and sorrows of them, and establishing harmonic orders.
As a conclusion, the reform of classical literature not only makes us recognize the value of them but also suggests the goals and identity of humanity studies for mordern mankind.
