The purpose of the paper is to suggest major policy directions in the transportation areas for Gyeonggi Province. Since the 4th elected Gyeonggi government in July, 2006 has committed the transportation improvement as one of the most important public pledges, serious transportation investment for Gyeonggi Province is expected.
In this regards, five pivotal transportation policy directions are suggested as follows: construction of latticed and circular networks, expansion of the commuter rail systems, integration of public transportation, making transportation environment human-friendly, securing the budget for the transportation investment.
In order to make these policies effective in Seoul metropolitan area, efficient policy coordination with other cities should be arranged.
