Park Young-hee was a very important writer and translator in Korean modern literature and drama movement. In this article, I attended his translated plays that he translated three dramas to introduce occidental civilization and to project nation-state as one of drama movements in colonial Korea. Therefore, his translation is the core and keyword to understand his whole literature.
At first, he found that it was the colonial Korea and the colonial Subject from the locality. The locality have been discovered from difference of the language. Next, he used Expressionism dramas to unify the nation. However, the expressionism drama had margin as immoderate form of the stage and a part of contents of the totalitarianism. At that time, the KAFP was a very important group among the socialism culture movement in Korea. As a member of the group, he projected the nation-state without capital. Finally, he found a new form from proletarian drama and projected the ‘capital≠nation＝state’ by drama 〈A Wagon by Man〉.
In all his works to make imaginate community as nation-state, the emotion and re-project of emotion existed in there. Those his work showed that he found for a model of the modern theater as the proletarian drama. Moreover, we can realize that the reason of conversion through the fail of his attempt for making the nation-state.
