This thesis aims to scrutinize the shifting of the dynasty form in heroic novels dealing with a shift of the dynasty; 〈Eum Yang Sam Tae Seong〉, and 〈Hyeon Su-moon Jeon〉. These two novels show the different ways of the shifting of the dynasty form from the others like 〈Jang Back Jeon〉, 〈Yu Mun-seong Jeon〉 that I have discussed. Also, there is a big difference in the hero's action. The heros have a desire for the imperial throne and conflict with the main character of the shift of the dynasty in 〈Jang Back Jeon〉 and 〈Yu Mun-seong Jeon〉. On the contrary, the heros of the 〈Eum Yang Sam Tae Seong〉, and 〈Hyeon Su-moon Jeon〉 have no desire of it and assist an emperor.
However, these two novels have their own special features. In 〈Eum Yang Sam Tae Seong〉 there is a basis of the shift of the dynasty in terms of the heavenly world, the terrestrial world, and the human world. In this sense, it has something common with 〈Jang Back Jeon〉 and 〈Yu Mun-seong Jeon〉. But, the distinctive feature is that the hero gives assistance to the throne and distinguishes himself and achieves the shift of the dynasty.
〈Hyeon Su-moon Jeon〉 has something in common with the other heroic novels dealing with a shift of the dynasty because it has a basis of the shift in terms of the heavenly world, the terrestrial world, and the human world. But, it is different from the others in that the shift of the dynasty occurs repetitively. The hero, Hyeon Su Moon distinguished himself and gave assistance to the existing throne but he was not directly involved in the shift of the dynasty. On the other hand, his son, Hyeon Chim distinguished himself and helped the new emperor and took part in the shift of the dynasty.
