This study examines the response of evangelical educators of American universities to Darwin's evolutionary theories from 1870 to 1900. Until now, the societies of Christian educators in Korea have neglected the relationship between science and religion, especially on the aspects of the Darwinian controversies. A distinctive metaphysical viewpoint on reality will lead to a value orientation, and this system will determine the goals in the educational process. In the same way, varying positions on creation and evolution will lead to different educational practices when educators are consistent with their beliefs. The history of the various ways showed that the theory of evolution shaped theological discourse during that era. According to this study, Darwin's theory was accepted in substance by the orthodox Christian scholars because of the affinities of Darwinism with orthodox theology, especially with Calvinism. Many of the significant issues debated within the American Protestant community originated in the conflict over organic evolution by the "creationist" movement within the fundamentalism that emerged during the early decades of the twentieth century. The challenge for Christian educators is to develop educational practices that harmonize with their own Christian faith and are, at the same time, feasible in their community context.
