This paper aims to examine the short story's characteristics of single meaning and the multi-layered and dialogical characteristics of the text, a short story and in a way full-length novel at the same time based on Seo Jeong-in's short story「Miro(Labyrinth)」.Also, it looks into how these two factors are structuralized and with which language they are organized.
Though「Miro」is a short story, it includes various features, such as ambiguous time, space and characters and criticism on reality by using allegoric rhetoric, presented in his novels. With allegoric structure and fantastic structure being compatible, Seo showed absurdity of the society, defined it as unreal space and expressed it as a space where human beings who lost their direction were floating around.
Though many parts of his novels could be allegorically interpreted, 「Miro」refused to be interpreted as a single meaning or with single language. If authoritative language lays stress on conclusive and single-meaning aspects, languages stated by the narrator on ambiguous and equivocal aspects. This ambiguity and equivocality takes the characters of corresponding logic against authoritative discourse.
