This article reviewed Seo, Jeong－ju’s linguistic and aesthetic attitude in the early poetry. Seo, Jeong－ju got outstanding poetic sensitivity from the western modern poetry, such as Baudelaire and Rimbaud in which he was absorbed of the times. Ironically, this can make him to find national sensitivity that is complete opposite of western modern poetry.
Seo, Jeong－ju cannot help falling in national sensitivity and also gives up all his poetic desire. Non other than mother tongue gives not perfectly all but flawed to him. Mother tongue is almost the identification which could not help avoiding, Seo, Jeong－ju gets through to the poetry. Seo, Jeong－ju perceives intuitively the possibility of mother tongue which assaults without warning to him in the name of modern destiny. It could almost allow him to take a long chance to imagine the world of national poetry which mother tongue only can do complete.
It is very important to explain concretely Seo, Jeong－ju’s linguistic and aesthetic most delicate attitude in his 1930~1940’s poetry. Seo, Jeong－ju’s linguistic and aesthetic attitude in 1930~1940’s poetry are not distinct different from his aesthetic principle in the early Poetry. If he rediscover nation language from dialect and colloquial style in that process, we have to profound study why this disposition of language creates effect in his poems.
