The purpose of this study is to suggest and search out the essential issues that should be considered to develop more effective tourism information systems. To achieve the study goal, field surveys were conducted in Korea's main tourist destinations: Seoul, Busan, Kangnung, and Jeju. The author examines visitors' consciousness concerning tourism information systems, such as the importance and the satisfaction level of tourism information systems and whether they are getting enough information or not, the most useful information, the most urgent assignments to improve the Korea's current tourism information systems, including awareness of regional differences. The results show that the importance of tourism information systems elements is higher than the satisfaction level of tourism information systems and there were significant differences depending on the survey region, excepting only the most urgent assignments. The findings imply that a general improvement of tourism information systems is needed, one that considers the regional differences of visitors' consciousness about tourism information systems.
