This paper analyzes the literary work of Jo Myeong-Am's poetry of a rewrite. In 1930s, Jo Myeong-Am wrote much lyrics and much popular song words. With of 「The Night」 through the 『ChosunIlbo』 on 4th May 1932, he entered into the contemporary literary society and went to the North-Korea in 1947. Jo Myeong-Am, in his popular song words, used native and provincial material more frequently than the contemporary representative songwriters, such as Lee ha-Yun, Park yeong-ho.
After he went to North-Korea, he conformed to the system of the nation and led a literary world in there. Compared with the status of the South-Korea in those days, the reformation of the North-Korea was likely to promise the new-order.
He dramatized the emotion of the times, sense of loss and farewell, in lyrical terms, and purified the general sadness of Korean popular songs into the most national and primordial emotion. The resentment and grief within the Jo Myeong-Am's popular song words is not dramatic or primitive emotion. But the emotion that the tragic reality of colony is filtered through metaphor and symbolism. We will find the fundamental data of poetry, popular song words that was written in the North-Korea by him and continue to research his work.
