I studied in this thesis how Eum-nerimpyo (음내림표), one of musical sign for heakum) appear in Jeongak(正樂) and how they are associated with the technique of other instruments. As for the special techniques found in Jeongak music, I studied Eum-nerimpyo.
Eum-narimpyo is the mark to make a note a step lower than the original one.
The note with the mark should be played differently from the note which is a step lower without the mark.
Including the exceptional cases seen only in『Aakbu haekumbo』, Eum-narimpyo appears in Hyonak youngsan hoesang, Pyoungjo hoesang, Gwanak youngsan hoesang, Chitageju, Gakok, Soojechon (壽齊天), Yeominrak (與民樂), Bohuhja (步虛子) and Kyongrok-mookangjigok (景?無彊之曲) among Jeongak musics except ritual musics.
Em-narimpyo can be classified roughly into two cases. One is the case that appears in yoohyon 1, and the other is the case functioning as kyongahnpyo (經按標).
The Em-narimpyo with yoohyon 1 is seen in fingering of Tae (太) 1, Joong (仲) 1, and Lim (林) 1 of the dang-piry (唐??) centered musics. We can find the technique of making Tae (太) 1 a step lower to Sansung (散聲) and making it retreated or pulled up to the original note. In the musics of fingering Jung 1, the technique of piry is associated. Piry appears with 'Hyeop (夾) 2ㆍHyeop (夾)ㆍother tone', making the standard of haegeum technique. It also appears in goonak(軍樂) of Hyonak youngsan hoesangㆍPyoungjo hoesang (Joongryongsan - goonak), Chitageju, and Bohuhja.
The functioning of Em-narimpyo as kyonganpyo is classified into ‘Tae(太) lim(林) -Joong(仲)’ tone, dangpiry-centered music, melodies with grace note and short tone of current music.
In 'Tae(太) lim(林)?-Joong(仲)' tone, piry appears as 'Tae(太) joong(仲) 2-joong(仲)', which is seen in gakok. In dangpiry- centered musics, 'Hwang(潢)?' is found in Bohuhja and ‘Hwang(潢)?-?’ in Kyongrok-mookangjigok. grace notes and short short tones of current music are found only in Aakbu haekumbo. When there is atone using Yokahn (逆按) technique in grace notes or a short tone joong(仲), they are marked with Em-narimpyo to be played with kyongahn technique.
