The rapid advances of information and communication technologies have accelerated digital convergence and pushed countries around the world to establish a ubiquitous society in a competitive manner. The digital convergence is requiring changes in the existing industrial and socio-cultural paradigms of information communications and broadcasting fields.
Mobile communications, which is an advanced means of communications that supports portability, mobility and personalization, is providing suppliers with an opportunity for industrial upgrades with the convergence of telecommunications and broadcasting. On the demand side, mobile communications is expected to transform the way people communicate and live.
Throughout the presentation, I would like to explain the trends and prospects of Korea s mobile communications and suggest desirable roles of the government, operators, industries and users to create a ubiquitous environment earlier than others.
