This article has addressed two issues on the crisis of worship currently emerged from the Korean church and presented some thoughts and ideas for helping the churches improve their worship. Two issues are: first is the believers' attitude coming to the church whether it is to attend or to participate. Second, it is the quality of the worship service in which the function of didache is neglecting. The best way to seek the resolution is to find some truths from the Bible. The spirit and the content of worship in the biblical perspective are to reinterpret in relation to the issues.
As for the spirit of worship, four biblical ideas are presented. First, the divine awe is to recover as referenced in Exodus 3:5. Second, self-surrender is to emphasize when we worship God as it is sampled in the story of Samaritan woman talking with Jesus at the well. Third, offering in the worship must be presented as personal devotion as in the story of Mark 14:3, a woman who broke the alabaster jar for anointing Jesus. Fourth, the spirit of kneeling is to enlighten the way in which worshipper give thanks. The story of the Samaritan leper who sincerely gave thanks to Jesus after healing in Luke 17:11-16.
Four biblical elements of worship need to be strengthened in order to improve the current situation. They are the presence of God, the recovery of Nehushtan (Numbers 21:4-9), the balance of two pillars of worship (grace and truth), and didache (teaching of the Word).
Lastly, the four crisis of worship are readdressed: silence of the Word, lack of liturgical theology, shaking faith foundation of the Lord's Day, and the idea of the Holy is neglecting. As Rick Warren said, we get stronger when give in ourselves to God. Today, to worship God seems complicated. However, we always keep in mind, with raising our hands and say, "Here I am to worship," God will be in our hearts.
