The Korean teen films are not the popular genre in the 1990s. These had showed, however, the change of using symbolic violence in Korean society. Bourdieu, P said that the symbolic violence is about the way of maintenance of a society, not the violent behavior or violent acts. The notion of Althusser, L' s ISA says that educationl system and school are ideological institution, either. The modem society needs symbolic violence for maintaining the society, especially. The Korean society has experienced rapid political and social change since 1987. The Korean film has changed, too.
The Korean teen films had concerned only love and ordinary high school life in the 1970s and 1980s. 〈 A Happiness is not a Success 〉 was the first 'Gi hwack' film and teen film also, in 1989. The film company surveyed high school girls and boys and produced the film. The 〈 Looking for all of my classmates〉 was that a school and a good teacher are the only hopes for students, 〈 Scary story in girls' high school 〉 was 'horror genre' film, and represented the unstable political and economical situation in Korea. The teen film genre is for teenagers and represent social situation as like all other film genres.
One of points in 〈 Looking… 〉 was the support for 'Union of Teachers' movement. This movement was the hot issue in Korea, in 1990. The film showed the importance of teacher, and how students suffered. 〈(Scary story…〉 showed teacher's violence and reproduction of social class.
Two films represented symbolic violence in Korean educational system. The school is the one of social institutions and for the 'Dominant Ideology'. It is not only korea but world wide situation. The change and development of society cause to increase using symbolic violence. I could assume to decrease using violent acts in film but this assume was not, clearly. Symbolic violence is not the physical violence, but it does 'force'. The Film does represent symbolic violence and subversion to ideological force.
