I described the factors increasing and decreasing the trade of Tsusima clan, which was a main place of Chosen-Japan trade in the seventeenth and eighteenth century, as connecting with its variation of raw yarn and ginseng in the import, and silver and copper in the export. In general, it might be said that the trade of Tsusima clan was deeply related to the situation of the China at that time. The raw yarn of Chung must be imported through Chosen because China did not admit the participation of Japanese tributary trade. However, as to the nagasaki trade, China and Japan could trade directly one another, and their trades achieved actively for a long time. On the other hand, as Chung exported the raw yarn to Europe, and then the silver incoming of Europe increased, the attraction for the silver of Japan brought on the relative decrease.
As China was interested in the direct trade with Europe, the attraction of Chung for Asia decreased. In addition, according to the ginseng of Chosen and the silver mines of Japan decreased, the productions did not make a role as representative products of the nation. In my opinion, these factors resulted in weakening the position of their economic trade between two parties as well as operating as a reason in increasing and decreasing trade of Tsusma clan.
