This paper considers the “English” recognition after the war in Okinawa.
In order to understand the “English” recognition of Okinawa, I tried to investigate the “English” recognition of the “mainland”.
Japanese society in order to make the ideal relationship with the United States, it created the “American language” which can be distinguished with “English”.
After the world war Ⅱ, the Japanese society insisted that English was not necessary in pre-war Japan, but presently it is very necessary. And for ideal relationship between Japan and United States, the Japanese studied English mandatorily.
This kind of phenomenon is the same after the war in Okinawa. Especially, training the interpretation and the translation was very important in Okinawa. Because that influences Okinawa and United States relationship. But interpretation and translation are not the behavior which makes language reproduce without the damage of meaning. Interpretation and translation only make temporary relationship.
Also I considered about “American language”, interpretation and translation through the works of Matayosi-Eiki.
