This paper shows the general meaning of Shen＇s novels which aim at reflecting the country life in the relation to rural folk culture.
Shen＇s pursuit for 'the research for life pattern', 'the settlement of problems in humanity' and 'the aesthetic of life' in his novel, relates to Chines traditional culture in the country, and on the basis of it, he complacently, positively accepting countryman＇s life philosophy which regards the wisdom of life as important admits their destiny, Shen letes the cultural pursuit of his own.
Therefore, it can be said Shen concretizes the cultural meaning within human general value such as a view of life and death, a view of love, a view of occupation, and his cultural pursuit satisfies the need of the times.
