Ko Won(1925～ ) has written poems for about 50 years. Until now, he published 12 volumes of poetry in Korean language. Beside these works, he published 2 volumes of poetry in English. As you can see, his work of writing is very massive and passionate.
Through this paper, I intend to investigate the internal mind of Ko Won. Because I think that this theme is very important and effective in understanding the world of Ko Won’s poetry. More concretely, I will study the process of changes of internal mind that he has shown by his poetry.
The internal mind of Ko Won in his poetry is classified as 4 phases.
In the first phase, he writes poems with the sense of pioneer.
In the second phase, he shows the mind of fighter for democracy.
In the third phase, he gets the consciousness about universe.
In the fourth phase, he shows the belief of Christianity.
In the ending place, I will especially lay emphasis on his Christianity.
Really he revealed the Christianity in his final phase. But I think that his work of writing has been made by the influence of this Christianity from the early days.
