This study is intended to provide neurophysiological foundational data through finding out the effects of sports massage by measuring brainwaves four times, at the statically resting state, right after the exercise, right after the sports massage, 30 minutes after the recovery in order to multi-directionally verify how sports massage affects the brainwave changes of healthy male undergraduates after submaximal exercise. After taking submaximal exercise without rest to 80% VO2max until the subjects were all out, they were divided into two groups, a statically resting group and a sport massage group, and were measured repeatedly. The delta wave change by measuring times according to the application of sports massage after the submaximal exercise showed meaningful difference in the sports massage group, and the delta wave change by groups showed meaningful difference in the group which was massaged right after the exercise. The theta wave change by measuring times according to the application of sports massage did not show any meaningful difference in both groups, and the theta wave change by groups did not show any meaningful difference, either. The alpha wave change by measuring times according to the application of sports massage after the submaximal exercise showed meaningful difference in the sports massage group, and the alpha wave change by groups showed meaningful difference in the group which was massaged right after the exercise. This study has examined the brainwave changes according to the application of sports massage, and it was found out that the sports massage group showed more increase of alpha wave than the statically resting group; thus, it is thought that sports massage is effective in the aspect of neurophysiological stability.
