The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 12-weeks aerobic-resistance mixed exercise on body fat profiles and fat free mass profiles of male elder person. The subjects of the study were 23 health elder male(aged: 65-67 years). They were separated into three groups : a control group(n=8), a aerobic exercise group(n=9), and a mixed exercise(aerobic?resistance) group(n=6). The aerobic exercise program was composed of 5min warm-up with gymnastics and stretching, and main exercise with ergometer pedaling or treadmill walking. Total exercise time was 30min at the primary stage of the training, then 60min exercise at the point of 8-12week. Exercise intensity was 80%-predictedHR(128 beats/min), 5 days a week The mixed ex. group was composed of a 20min treadmill walking and six-events machine exercise with 10RM 2set to 4weeks, 3set during 8-12weeks. The aerobic exercise group was significantly reduced body weight(-1㎏, p<.05), body fat(1.6㎏, p<.05), %body fat(1.2%, p<.05), and waist-hip ratio(0.01%, p<.05). In fat free mass, skeletal muscle mass was increase 0.8㎏, lean body mass 1.4 ㎏, and BMR 15kcal. In other hand, mixed exercise group was reduced body weight 0,9㎏, body fat(1.3㎏), %body fat(1.6%), and waist-hip ratio(0.01%). There were increase skeletal muscle mass 0.4㎏, lean body mass 0.6 ㎏, and BMR was only significantly increase 128 kcal(p<.05).
In conclusion, both training types had a positive effects in body fat profiles and free fat mass profiless in elder male. Specially, our research results was presented that the aerobic exercise training is more effective program in elder man.
