The purpose of this study was to help students sing folksongs in many and diverse ways, by investigating the method of Gyeonggi province folksongs singing method‘ and applying the result to the practice of folk song and traditional children‘s songs in textbooks.
Examining ‘the singing methods of Gyeonggi folksongs’, it was divided into taking turns, solo, troll, repetition, relayed singing, and others. The method of taking turns, the songs were classified into the songs with free length and specific length. The solo singing method, they were separated into two types by ‘presence of refrain’. It was turned out to be 3 folksongs with the method of troll. The repetition, which were classified into the type of ‘continuous changing the talks’ and ‘reciting the same talks’. The method of relayed singing, and the detailed was classified into ‘similar one with normal relayed singing’ and ‘relayed singing with many characteristics’. Other methods were containing an ‘assigned singing’ type and an ‘antiphon’ type.
Based on these method of singing, it observed a plan to utilize by applying to the songs in a textbook.
It was ‘our village’ utilizing the method of ‘taking turns’, dividing into two groups with the method of relayed singing, changing a play with the singing methods. The song that utilized the method of solo was ‘Doongdangi Taryoung’ of relayed singing method, the chattering was followed by solo, and made a chorus in the end of song. ‘Namul song’ has been adapted to the troll method, it used to pick one song up among 5 material songs, and one item among the chattering, then sing with turns. ‘Seesaw’ has utilized the repetition method while performing a play of seesawing. The song using the relayed singing method was ‘Maerongi sound’, changing the refrains which had been presented in the end originally to be placed after each beat regularly. Other methods were applied to ‘the sound of anchovy catching’, a sailor’s song mixed with two kinds of receiving sound in order to experience of overlapping effects.
According to this study, folksongs had a diverse way of singing that made a huge impact on a folksongs singing. Hence, it is expected to conduct some useful instruction of folk song singing, by utilizing many singing methods in school fields.
