All of the education organizations have to introduce information system using the present information technology in order to improve the competitive advantage and effectiveness of education process. As well as ordinary information system, it is a very important criterion, for Korean National Education Information System(NEIS) to achieve the improved education performance and the positive influences to the education process. Introduction of information system to education process is not merely a subject of efficiency for cost and benefit for a certain period of time, but it also plays an important part for the existence and development of education.
This study tried to develop several measures to assess the performance of NEIS, and classified those into 3 areas, which included system and end-users area, education process area and performance area. Then this study designed a research model which included all the measures derived from the previous literature survey.
This study had designed 2 research hypotheses in order to formulate inter-relationship among variables, which was occurred in the implementation of information system in the education process, and which was represented with using the latent variables of the structural equation modelling approach. In order to get the effective data from the survey, this paper designed a questionnaire that included all the derived concepts and made their operating definitions.
This study formulated the research model with 5 latent variables which included users characteristics, task improvement, satisfaction of education customers, efficient communication and performance of NEIS. Also these latent variables had constructed with several measures respectively.
Then 550 questionnaires had been distributed by mail across the country and collected 449 respondents. The data, gathered from the survey, had been processed with using statistical system of SPSS and AMOS. After the validity and reliability of the data were verified, frequency analysis, at first, was applied to grasp the demographic characteristics of respondents and then t-test was performed to examine the difference between 2 independent groups classified in the first stage of statistical proceeding. At last the designed hypotheses were verified with using famous and effective AMOS method.
Finally conclusions are summarized as follows:
First, the users s concern to the information system had an affirmative influence on the satisfaction of users, and attitude change of users had also a positive influence on the administration area of the information system such as task productivity, task innovation, satisfaction of the education users, activity of control process. Second, task innovation and satisfaction of the education users had an affirmative influence on the performance of education; task productivity and activity of control process were found, on the contrary, to be no affirmative influence on the performance. In the same context, the hypothesis that task productivity and activity of control process had on the educational outcome, was statistically insignificant, because the information system had a role as a supporter of educational administration activities rather than a direct role to the outcome of education.
