Kim Ji Ha strongly resisted the absurdity of reality in 1960s and 1970s. He was interested in the condition of life instead of being devoted to the literature. The life and poetic literature of him is based on the Donghak idea and ‘Three Worships Idea of Haewol’ forms the frame of his poetic world. ‘The Idea of Three Worships’ represents the worship of heaven, ‘the worship of nature’ and ‘the workship of man.’
The idea of three worships is connected as one without being divided. Especially, among three worships, the worship of heaven is the foundation of oriental thinking. Since the worship of heaven represents the mind of being awe of heaven, it is naturally connected to the consciousness of apprehension, displaying the willingness to live rightly in terms of morality and ethics. However, since the reality oppresses this willingness, the speaker of poem is in the emotional conflict between ego and super ego and falls in obsession.
The meaning of the worship of heaven in the poetic literature of Kim Ji Ha is that it acquires the ability of action and it is not trapped by the self tormenting ‘self-negation’, caused by the conflict and obsession for the morally and ethically right life. It explains the reason for the literary feature and historicity of Kim Ji Ha's poems. Based on this recognition, Kim Ji Ha extends the width of his recognition into the universe. It reaches the aspect of spirituality, which is internally pursed by man. This thesis investigated the internal change of Kim Ji Ha through his poems.
