The purpose of this study was to examines the effect of blood latate and ammonia, physical performance on Maltodextrin ingestion after incremental maximal exercise in human. The subjects of this study were 20 normal healthy males(placebo group=10, Maltodextrin group=10) and all subjects were involved in each test. Maximal exercise tests were performed by each subject on a Monark cycle ergometer. VO₂ max was measured on the ergometer tests breathed through a low resistance low dead space breathing valves using exercise protocol of ACSM. Plasma was sampled from an antecubital vein using a hypodermic syringe at rest, post-exercise(all-out), 30min after exercise and analyzed for whole blood ammonia and lactate.
The results were as follows :
1. Peak value of Blood lactate at post-exercise(all-out) and recovery 30min after maximal exercise were showed Maltodextrin group significantly(p<.05) lower than placebo group.
2. Peak value of Blood ammonia at post-exercise(all-out) and recovery 30min after maximal exercise were showed Maltodextrin group little higher than placebo group, but between Maltodextrin group and placebo group were not significant.
3. Physical performance were showed Maltodextrin group significantly(p<.05) increase than placebo group.
These results suggest that the administration of Maltodextrin lowered lactate produce and physical performance increment after maximal exercise. However it had no effect to inhabit ammonia produce. In conclusion, Maltodextrin availability before exercise may have greater effects of ergogenic aids than don't ingestion.
