The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of various oxygen-giving method condition(before training;BTO, during training;DTO & after training oxygen-giving method;ATO) on the changes in blood fatigue factors(lactate, ammonia, phosphorous, and pH). The subjects of the present study were five male university students. The tests were performed under consistent environmental conditions(temperature 21.5-26.0℃; relative humidity 48-63%). The test was performed using Alliance Oxygen Concentrator of Healthdyne(USA), with additional oxygen-giving methods(90%±5: O₂) of the three different periods. All subjects participated in an exercise program of absolute intensity exercise which composed of 7% grade and 7mile/h speed on a treadmill.
According to result, blood lactate levels of the DTO group was higher than that of the other groups, so they were found to be different among the three groups(p<.05). There was no significant difference in ammonia, phosphorous, and pH levels among the three groups(p>.05). It was found that additional oxygen-giving method had no effect on blood fatigue element changes except lactate. In summary, blood ammonia, phosphorous, and pH were not largely affected by hyperoxia in the three different exercise conditions. However, blood lactate was affected by hyperoxia in the three different exercise conditions. I hope that scientific research should be designed by several variables, such as, elements of oxygen-giving method, exercise intensity, exercise duration, and individual physical fitness levels. Thus, future research should be performed in order to demonstrate the roles of ergogenic aids based on scientific knowledges through a vast-ranged study with diverse experimental conditions.
