The purpose of this study aims to investigate the perceptions of the instructors who are partly in charge of educating human nature for children through Taekwondo and to prepare a foundation for further researches.
The subject of the present study included 100 directors of Taekwondo institutes who graduated from or are currently attending in the department of Taekwondo, K University by a convenience sampling. The research was carried out from September 1st to December1st, 2004. The research tool was a survey questionnaire by modifying and reorganizing the ones used from the previous researches by Lim Jong-tae (2000), Lee Hye-young (2000), Lim Jung-ryol (2000), Chae Young-sin (1998), and Choi Tae-kyung (1998).
The results of the present study are as follows:
First, Taekwondo instructors need to consult the trainee and to write an observation diary. Then based on the results of the consultation and observation, a system for the instructor and the parents whose child has problems should be established to discuss over the education of human nature. Second, a subject like 'Human Nature Education" should be included in the University curriculum, and also in the instructor or umpire training of the World Taekwondo Headquarters, the Korea Taekwondo Association, and the life-time sports instructors. Third, a clear direction and guiding principle for human nature education should be provided.
In the end, it is believed that the educators and the parents should have a strong will tc practice the human nature education before demanding a proper humanism to students who committed a misconduct or deviation in order to form a proper human nature naturally.
