The purpose of this research was to help establish sports psychology as an independent study through comparing middle school athletes Emotional quotient(EQ) with that of other ordinary student and analyzing them.
This research has also been made to provide basic material necessary for motivating athletes participation in training and for finding young promising athletes.
Emotional Quotient of 100 middle school single event athletes. 100 team event athletes and 100 ordinary students have been measured. compared and analyzed. The conclusion of it is as follows.
First, no difference was found among their Emotional Quotient.
Second, for male students team event athletes have shown higher marks than single event athletes in self-feeling recognition, a composing factor of Emotional quotient. On the other hand, no difference was found among female students.
Third, no difference was found among the subject students in another composing factor of Emotional Quotient, recognition of others feelings.
Fourth, no difference was found in self-motivation factor among the subjects.
Fifth, for female students team event athletes have shown higher marks than ordinary students in self-felling management factor. No difference was found among male students.
Sixth, no difference was found in the factor. management of others feelings among the subjects.
