This study is intended to explain the meaning of metaphoric dependent verbs which is supposed to participate in some kind of Construction with its own semantic interpretation rule. The meaning of dependent verbs can be explained by revised meaning-network theory of Tyler & Evans(2004), which registers new meanings by experiential corelation mechanism of human cognition.
The meaning-network theory of Tyler & Evans(2004) which has been revised here suggests that dependent verbs are only allowed to activate minimal extended meanings, and the meaning and constraints of dependent verbs in Korean seem to be properly explained by this phenomenon and Construction Grammar's non- derivational surface form hypothesis(Goldberg 2006).
When metaphorical mapping takes place in dependent verb's constructions, those two domains of time and state become grounds where TRs can move through figuratively. But, for the meaning of verbs does not go under change, they sustain activating their minimal -extended meaning throughout all contexts, so that we can make every meanings of dependent verbs be predictable with reference to the proto-scenes where every co-related experiences have originated from.
