The purpose of this paper is to explore some aspects of second verbs in Korean serial verbs. Traditionally the second verbs of Korean serial verbs are treated as the auxiliary verbs or complex verbs. However, we treat them as the serial verbs and subcategorize them as complete serial verbs, aspect serial verbs, or semi-serial verbs according to the different denotations between them. Suppose A is the denotation of first verb, and B is the denotation of second verb in serial verb construction. If A ⋂ B = A, then these verb constructions are classified as perfect serial verbs, and if A ⋂ B = ∅, then these are as aspect serial verbs, and if A ⋂ B = A or A ⋂ B = ∅, then they are classified as semi-serial verbs. We treated some characteristics of resultatives, purposives, and descriptives that the serial verb constructions represent as aspectual phenomena, and we also regarded [PROGRESS/PROCESS] of the of GADA/ODA(go/come), and [BENEFIT] of CHUDA(give), and [CARRYING OUT] of BODA(see) as the aspectual phenomena. Those aspectual meanings of the verb constructions are represented in the model of subatomic semantics.
