This is a report of women’s sexuality and love in life stories gathered at the Shinsudo senior center’s speech stage program in Sacheon City, Gyeongsangnam-do. Since marriages officially permit women to have sex, female sexuality in the life stories is limited in the boundary of marriages. Women’s sex is not for love, but for ‘having a son’. Therefore, once women finish the duty, their sexuality is called as ‘non-sexual.’ Violations against this concept of female sexuality are considered as deviations. The example can be seen in Grandmother Sun Yee’s first marriage. She experienced love from her first marriage, which other women have never felt. However, she has considered the feeling as a deviation by herself, kept it as a secret, and abused herself for the lifetime. Finally she confessed her life story at the stage, and received enormous supports from other women. Through this process, participants show changes in their previous conception to that they accept the experiences of love and sex as a point of discovering their identities. For men, speaking about their love and sexuality is regarded as either heroic or dirty stories, but it is stories of questioning and answering identities for women. This study is aimed to return a very personal story of an individual, which can be disappeared with her death, to the public experience of a community, and to assure the power of storytelling that gives new viewpoint to people’s life.
