This thesis is focused on the literature of Kyung－Ae Kang who was a female novelist in the 1930’s from a perspective of socialistic description of women. She viewed economic discrepancy and hierarchical discrepancy of colonized society within the scope of an integrated understanding on women’s problems by exceeding the limitation of enlightenment feminism that had criticized feudalistic old customs and insisted free love.
First, she was attentive to the reality of low class women as a target of discrepancy and suppression, and made those women as her heroin in the novel. Through this, she made people realize that the extreme poverty of a heroin was not generated from her own destiny but from the inconsistent structure of the reality of a colony. In other words, she attempted to perceive women’s reality where national discrepancy and hierarchical discrepancy were doubly entangled, with a critical eye.
Second, she emphasized the realization of socialistic description ofwomen and the hierarchical awakening of women. She thought that women in a colony needed to materialize their identity as a social self, and to have a clear understanding on the feminine class. She aspired to fully embody the identity of women and their class by seeking out active coupling of such understandings on society and women.
