This thesis considered kong, Sun Ock’s novel what reasons of making the feminine otherness and how this factors are shown on her novel as a view of existentialistic feminism. In addition, we studied a characteristic of his literary style on her novel a creation of feminine by feminine writers point of view.
we can find “the women” made as a otherness by others on his novel, 「the thirty years on o－gi－ri」, 「wandering trees」, 「the thirsty season」, 「a life」, 「the flower of our lives」.
on those novels, feminine are not only made by the man, but also made by themselves. The reasons why the women are made by others are because of 「Couk－Chup－Je」, ‘a notion of preferring a son to a daughter’, ‘an absence of economic power’.
As the character of his literary style, we can find a trace of “self-absorption” toward woman characters which is easily found in the creation of a woman character by woman writers. also, a woman are established as a waiting person for something or someone in his novels, 「the thirty years on o－gi－ri」, 「wandering trees」, 「a white mooon」, 「a life」 etc, and a man are established as a wandering or free man.
