The aim of this study is to examine crime situations and crime prevention of residential area in Pusan. Specifically, this research focuses on the comparative study of single-detached unit and apartment. The regression analysis is employed to find what factors are meaningful to the crime prevention of each different residential types.
The major findings of this study arc as follows :
It is found that the residents in single-detached unit have more crime accident than those in apartment. The burglary and trespass occurrences of crimes are almost restricted to the single-detached unit area.
Most respondents answered 'average' against crime fear without a big gap between single-detached unit and apartment. Those who reside in single-detached unit pointed that the small alley in the night is the most dangerous place, while those in apartment do that the neighborhood park area and playground are ones. Also, the rooftop was found to be an insecure place to those in apartment.
In crime prevention and precaution, the residents of single-detached unit complained non-existence of the small vigilances offices for crime prevention. Above all, the respondents highly anticipate the police's role in single-detached unit and the private guard's role in apartment.
In addition, it is found that the determinants of crime fear are much different between single-detached unit(e. g. income, residential satisfaction, place) and apartment(e. g., children, going out. residence year). However, the crime prevention variable is the only factor to decrease the crime fear without relation to residential type.
