The aim of this paper is to inform firstly about possible method of improvement to New Town detached housing area’s design controls. and secondly about the basic conditions of the future locations of neighborhood facilities in this areas. Research and analysis of the location of neighborhood facilities in a New Town detached housing area in Ilsan, and survey of residents’ opinions about these facilities has led me to conclude the following.
Research into residents’ usage of neighborhood facilities in a certain block showed that in the case of basic-everyday facilities and services. the close proximity of these facilities meant that they were frequently used. Therefore the location of essential facilities in the neighborhoods is inevitable. But in the case of facilities perceived as injurious. such as restaurants. entertainment facilities. car service-centers, offices and so on, residents wanted the location of these facilities to change from the current scattered arrangement to one where such facilities would be located together in one area.
