In the analysis of technical efficiency in the truckload carriers with panel data, firm 8 and firm 1 show large technical efficiency, which is called 'polarization of efficiency'. So these firm's output / input ratio is larger than that of other firms, especially in 1991~95. Inspite of high level in technical efficiency, firm 8 and firm 1's scale efficiency is smaller than other firm's. I think that this matter is caused by relative revenue decrease according to freight dumping through excessive competition, operation with loss on cost, overburden etc. and not by cost increase by over input of labour, capital, etc.. And for the sake of analyzing the cause whether problems in the truckload carriers are caused by firm's outside impact or firm's inside inefficiency, λ values are calculated. These λ values indicate the fact that the situation which firm's inside inefficiency is larger than firm's outside impact is transformed into the situation which firm's outside impact is larger than firm's inside inefficiency. So problems which caused by physical facilities side is becomming larger than that of firm management side yearly. Therefore according to λ values, it is desirable to think that inefficiency of the truckload carriers is caused by physical facilities side problem, not by firm management side problem, such as smallness, owner operation, low industrial concentration. And in the SOC investment determinants of the truckload carriers, it appears that freight terminal relates to construction of new transportation systems, and road expansion, improvement or maintenance, preservation of existing transportation systems.
