The purpose of this paper is to compare the Planning systems and the Policies between Korea and Japan within the scope of the mixed land-use one of characteristics in urban area. For the purpose, I've tried to trace the historical background, to compare the simulities and differences in Planning system and Regulation system, and to analyze the Urban Planning Laws which are revised recently in Korea and Japan.
The results are as followings;
First, In the Planning system, Korea has introduced micro level planning to complement the gaps between macro level and lot-base level. and Japan had introduced Master Plan concept to control the individual planning.
Second, In the Zoning system, although both had been allowed to mixed land-use in their zoning guidance, they divided the Residential Zone into many parts to protect the characteristics of each one of the residential areas.
Third, In the Regulation system, It has been changed for the purpose of enhancing the realization of the projects in Japan, but it had been hardly kept on itself in Korea until now.
The results are as followings;
