A Driver Information System provides drivers with dynamic traffic information such as travel time and travel speed. This paper gives the results of Stated Preference survey on the street and detour, to analyze driver responses when receiving dynamic traffic information. We empirically analyzed the effect of traffic information on drivers' route choices.
Based on these results, comparing drivers who forecast that the street would be faster, to those who forecast that the detour would be faster before receiving information. their route choice after receiving information was not the same. This indicates that drivers' route choice under Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS) depends on what route was planned before receiving information.
We also found that travel time information influences route choices more among experienced drivers than inexperienced drivers. And we examined the efficiency of the Driver Information System.
