This study is to analyze a parasite relationship in 〈December 12〉 considered as the starting point of Lee, Sang's writing profession and further raise the issues on literature and life, which he consistently pursued for through his works. Literary works and life of Lee Sang contain a number of issues, which should be interpreted in the context of today as well as his times; that is, modern experiences in the poetic environment of city, capitalism and desire, relationship between subject and object, and writing and reading. To find and study those issues should not be performed simply to answer questions in relation to study of Lee, Sang, but return to our own problems on the basis of the answers to such questions. In this regard, this study examines unfair relationship, one of elements consisting of his spiritual magnetic field and consciousness in connection with his own life, specifically focusing on a parasite relationship appeared in his works, and by defining it consciousness as a parasite, analyze a parasite relationship reflected in 〈December 12〉 in terms of content and structure.
In chapter 2, Lee, Sang's three experiences in a parasite relationship such as a life as a foster son, suffering form tuberculosis, and exposure to colonialism and modernity in the 1930s are described in relation with 〈December 12〉 and his later works in order to understand how such consciousness as a parasite shared by all these three experiences has been expressed as the starting point of his works.
Chapter 3 searches for a parasite relationship among characters based on the content of such self-consciousness in 〈December 12〉 developed by his three experiences in terms of money and misunderstanding as well as asymmetric, unbalanced relationship of them surrounding love.
Finally, chapter 4 investigates elements of parasite in the narrative strategy of 〈December 12〉; in particular, they include three types of extra-fictional voices interrupting between the first half with confession-based narration though letters and the second half developed by a dramatized story, changing the flow of narration, and two sided image of fire dividing overall image of the first and second half of 〈December 12〉 into two elements of cold and heat, passivity and activity, and role and meaning of the date of 〈December 12〉 consisting circulating structure of the work, which main character confronts three times by chance in his lifetime.
