Sun Hong compiled in 1688 Huangqing-shi-xuan after realizing the abundance of works by the early Qing poets. Later on he collected newly the poetic works of 15 countries around China and compiled the revised and enlarged edition of Huangqing-shi-xuan. The book was printed by his grandson Sun Wei by 1758.
The compilation of the book was originally intended for selecting the poetic works of the early Qing poets as seen in the title but it also contained the Chinese poems of the nations surrounding China in those days. Based on the notion that all the world are one from the China's viewpoint then Sun Hong has showed a strong attachment to the poetic materials of surrounding countries since he compiled the original copy of Huangqing-shi-xuan and included these works of 15 nations surrounding China later when he revised and enlarged Huangqing-shi-xuan. One piece of poem by Korean was included in the original copy of Huangqing-shi-xuan and additional 33 pieces of literary work(32 of poetic works and one of prose) with the one in the original copy were contained in the revised and enlarged one.
Almost all of the works by Koreans included in the revised and enlarged edition were deeply related to Chaoxian-caifeng-lu(《朝鮮採風錄》) collected in 1678 by Sun Zhimi(孫致彌) from Sun Hong family. Sun Hong made critical notes on the poetic works by Koreans included in the revised and enlarged edition. Many of his comments on these works mainly consisted of the comparison with the works of Tang and Song poets and the descriptions about the imaginative world expressed in the worksand these works were followed the spirit of Tang poetry. This is related to Sun's inclination to Tang poetry.
